Wedged between the Kalahari and the South Atlantic, Namibia enjoys vast potential as one of the youngest countries in Africa. In addition to having a striking diversity of cultures and national origins, Namibia is a photographer’s dream – it boasts wild seascapes, rugged mountains, lonely deserts, stunning wildlife, colonial cities and nearly unlimited space.
Namibia is a magnificently vast, rugged and seemingly empty land. There are areas where you can drive for over 250km (155mile) between service stations and camp in places having your nearest neighbour over 100km (62mile) away. You will see the cloudless and the bluest of skies for many months of the year, and if visiting in the rainy season, hopefully, a welcome afternoon downpour. Namibia is a country of breathtaking contrast. If you would like to advertise on the Namibia Information Directory, please visit www.namibia-info.com/country/why_advertise

I fly into Windhoek, the surprisingly modern capital city in Namibia. I wander along Independence Avenue to see the old colonial buildings and a meteorite memorial. Then head up Robert Mugabe Avenue to see the church, the parliament and the independence monument. I finish my tour by wandering the botanical gardens in search of a rock hyrax.
